Before viewing, you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions. You are welcome to share the recording with friends and family, however, we kindly ask that you share the link to this page rather than the link to the videos.
You can view and download the full shows for free. Each show has “chapters” for individual dances so you can watch the show in full and in order or skip to your dancer’s dance! Your child’s individual dance is available for download and purchase (fee not affiliated with OC Dance).
Please be cognizant and respectful of other families when sharing with others or posting on social media outlets to respect their privacy if the image you share includes another dancer. Can I exchange my dancer’s costume for a bigger or smaller size?
- No, all sales are final – no exchanges are available. If there is a default in your costume please tell your instructor right away.
Costume recommendations:
- If your dancer’s costume includes a tutu and/or dress with a tutu attached, we recommend hanging their costume upside down for ultimate tutu fluffiness.
- We recommend putting your child’s costume away and out of sight until recital day. Your dancer may want to practice in their costume at home or play dress-up in their costume, please do your best to keep your dancer from doing so. Once your dancer’s costume is received, it is your responsibility to maintain performance-ready quality.
What tights and shoes do I need?
- Below is a list of tights and shoes needed per dance.
- NO light up shoes please
- We recommend purchasing items (if needed) through our online dancewear shop – click here
- Due to global shipping delays, please ensure the item(s) you’re selecting are currently in stock. Availability information listed near description of item.
How should my child wear their hair?
- Girls – below is a list of hairstyles per dance.
- Boys – please comb/brush hair and feel free to use hair gel to slick back (ballet) or style as you please (non-ballet)
- Click here to view high ballet bun tutorial video
Should my dancer wear makeup?
- This is up to you and your dancer! However, the stage lights are bright and we recommend at least blush and lipstick so your dancer’s features are seen on stage.
- Click here if you wish to view a recital makeup tutorial video.
What if my dancer is in multiple dances?
- Your dancer should arrive in costume/shoes/hair for their first dance and have their costume/shoes/hair accessories for their second dance in a labeled bag.
- Your instructor should inform you what dance is being performed first but if you need this information please reach out to our office staff at info@ocdanceproductions.com
When are ticket sales released, how much are tickets, and how will I receive my ticket?
- Please refer to the top of this page for instructions on how to purchase tickets.
- Tickets range from $18-$20 (subject to change) depending on pre-sale and day of sales. Proceeds from the tickets go directly to the rental costs of the auditorium, SAHS staff, and security.
- If purchasing online in the pre-sale period, once you purchase your ticket(s) you’ll receive an email confirmation. The email confirmation is your “ticket” which you will show to the ticket booth staff upon arrival (either printed or on your mobile device) and you will receive a wristband per ticket purchased. The wristband is your entry into the auditorium.
Can we get a DVD of the recital?
- Starting with our December 2022 Recital we switched to an online, professional recording of the show. Each family will receive a link approximately 6-10 weeks after the show (also posted on this page) so they can watch their dancer’s performance easily at home and share it with friends/family around the world! The Recital Commitment Fee includes access to the show recording and no additional fees will be owed in order to view the recording. If you wish to download the recording you’ll be able to do so for a small fee.
- To protect the privacy of your child and others we request that families do not share video recordings on social media or other public, online platforms.
Can I take photographs of my dancer on stage?
- Due to auditorium policies, flash photography and video recording are prohibited.
- Photography without flash is permitted from your seat.
- No tripods permitted in the audience. Those with tripods will be asked to take it down. Failure to comply may result in withdrawal from the audience.
- We ask that you remain seated at all times, even while taking photos (auditorium policy)
Where are recitals held?
- Our recitals are held at the beautifully renovated Bill Medley Auditorium at Santa Ana High School. The facility has a fully operating stage and staff, secured backstage, and professional sound and lighting.
How long does the recital last?
- OCDP typically hosts 2 to 4 recitals in one day. Your child will only participate in one. If your dancer is in multiple dance classes, they could be in multiple shows. Our shows will each last approximately 45-60 minutes. Call time for each show is 45 minutes prior.
What time is my dancer to be backstage?
- Dancers should arrive 45 minutes prior to their show start time.
- Check in does take a few minutes to ensure the safety of each and every dancer.
- Please visit the restroom prior to check in. Restrooms are in the courtyard to the left of check in. There are restrooms backstage, but we want to limit potty emergencies!
Are parents permitted backstage?
- No, only screened OC Dance faculty and staff are permitted backstage to ensure the safety of all dancers.
- Please use your best judgment to determine if you need to inform your dancer ahead of time that you will not be with them backstage (recommended for dancers ages 5 and under).
Does my dancer need anything backstage?
- Only your dancer, in their costume, goes backstage.
- Dancers should arrive in full costume, tights, and dance shoes with hair and makeup completed.
- No jackets backstage.
- Please no extra clothing on dancers. We will not change or undress any dancers per our policy. What they wear backstage is how they go onstage.
- Please no water or snacks (school policy) – eat a good meal before check in.
What will my dancer be doing backstage?
- Our awesome (city-approved and background-checked) instructors will be ready to make potty runs and entertain dancers with coloring books, stickers, and games. Your child will be safe, supervised, and having the time of their life backstage with us!
- As shows are extremely short for dance programs, the majority of the time dancers are in the process of being led on and off stage in an organized, spaced, and safe fashion.
- Each class will have a designated, screened, and qualified representative supervising them the entire time.
- No parents will be permitted backstage. This is for the safety of all dancers (including your own).
- Please note, on the commitment form, the OC Dance format has been disclosed and agreed to upon registering for event. Please be sure to inform other family members checking in your dancer of this protocol to avoid confusion.
- Do you need parent volunteers?
- At this time we do not have a need for parent volunteers. Thank you for your interest!
What if my dancer needs me while backstage?
- Parents will be paged in the auditorium should it become necessary. You would then meet a staff member and your dancer at the check-in desk.
What if my dancer is in two dances?
- Dancers in two dances will arrive dressed in their first costume with their second costume and applicable shoes/accessories in a labeled bag.
- They will be escorted after their first dance to the dressing room, then will join their second class. Dancers will have at least 5 routines to change.
What are your COVID-19 policies for recital?

All registered participants have agreed to the following terms:
I understand the nature of the activities in which my child/guardian/ward (hereinafter “child” or “dancer”) will be participating, and I acknowledge and understand that in participating in any dance class, workshop, program, performance, recital, or dance related activity (the “Activities”), there are inherent risks of physical injury, property damage, and/or death.
