Sugarplums, Reindeer, and Snowflakes…Oh My!
The countdown is on! Our annual winter recital is just around the corner.
This post is designed to help you and your dancer prepare for your/their first recital or, if you are a show veteran to help give you a little refresher! Be prepared for a very exciting day! It is normal for your dancer to have a few butterflies and be a little nervous. Encourage them! A gentle reminder of all the fun they are going to have goes a long way!
Saturday, December 7th 2013 at 5pm
Bill Medley Auditorium at Santa Ana High School
Dress Rehearsal information can be found here: https://ocdanceproductions.com/recitals/ Beginning at 8:45am, when you arrive, find your designated color area in the auditorium and wait for your dance to be called.
The night before, encourage your dancer to get a full nights rest so they have plenty of energy for the following day. Eat well before dress rehearsal and show time. Food and drinks need to be kept to a minimum back stage.
Check in will begin at 4pm at a backstage entrance, there will be two tables and we will be easy to spot! You you will need to sign in your dancer and sign out your dancer. Arrive in full hair and make up, costume on with a jacket or something to cover up. It is important to wear a cover up to keep the costume clean and in stage condition. Ballet Bun (if your dancer is in a ballet dance) and make up tutorial available for you below. You may send a small bag backstage with your dancer. Helpful things to include are: lipstick, dance shoes, and a small water bottle. Please be sure to label anything your dancer brings.
Chaperones and OCDP staff will be back stage to take care of anything they need! We will have activities to keep the kids entertained back stage and access to a restroom and a way to contact you in the audience should that become necessary.
Once you sign in your dancer, feel free to stick around because at 4:30pm the auditorium doors will open and guests may take their seats. It is general admission seating, and saving of seats will not be permitted.
Tickets can be purchased on line at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/461210 for $10 or at the door day of for $15, cash or check only.
If your dancer performs in the first half of the show you may check them out at intermission. At that time they may watch from the auditorium with you to the end of the show, or you are free to leave.
Celebrate the success of your dancer with flowers, which will be available for purchase in the lobby for $5 each. We will also have snacks and drinks available for purchase.
An exciting way to commemorate the day is to purchase a recital DVD to have for years to come! Purchases can be made at dress rehearsal and the evening of the show.
Feel free to contact Alexis at alexis@ocdanceproductions.com with any questions pertaining to recital!
